What is Vanguard?

It’s a platform connecting Greenville’s people, places, and ideas. The main idea is a platform that grows alongside Greenville, and showcases the best of Greenville, all while platforming local businesses, entrepreneurs, and creatives across the Upstate.

Basically, we're just here to help grow the community, bring people together, and explore Greenville's culture and communities.

Why is it free?

How is it different from a directory?

Vanguard focuses on curation and meaningful connections, not just listing names. We truly believe that Greenville being our starting point, is not only what makes us stand out, but allows us to stay true to our principles by engaging with a very diverse business palette. Unlike other directories, who are focused on monthly retainers, we focus on making sure our businesses are not only seeing results, but we ensure that they have a stronger backbone to support their success.

Who supports this platform?

Node 864 is the platform's funding engine. We do accept donations, however we prefer to give back to our community in exchange for the support. Our clothing line, Node 864, is designed to help define Greenville original culture through fashion. Right now, the designs are simple, but we plan to work with local artists and network members to make designs for everyone in Greenville!

All the profit from Node 864 is divided equally between funding the platform's continued growth and hosting, and investing in local real estate to build a transitional housing program for our local homeless population.

Can I join Vanguard?

Yes, anyone shaping Greenville’s culture is welcome to join. Whatever you do in this city, you have a story here, and you have a part to play in the bigger picture too. The goal is to build an endless network tailored to Greenville. Anybody in Greenville can achieve success in their deepest passions, and Vanguard Connect only makes it easier.

What’s next for Vanguard Connect?

We aim to deepen local ties and evolve alongside Greenville’s changing landscape. Our founder, Nicholas Johnson, is actively building Vanguard Connect into an interconnected blueprint for a replicable ecosystem that is planned to be implemented in Greenville, SC, and scaled across the nation to strengthen other communities as well.

Vanguard Connect is free, in order to remain a community-based platform focused on local growth, supporting & promoting small and local businesses, and helping Greenville develop into a major city smoothly with a clean vision, network, and blueprint.
